Meet Carl, the Founder and CEO

In 2009, I was barely out of my teens, studying sociology at Wayne State at the height of the recession. Job opportunities were scant, particularly for young people — so I decided to take a leap of faith and start a window cleaning business. It went well enough that I decided to hit pause on my plan to get a masters degree in public health, and devoted myself to figuring out how to build something that could actually last.

17 years and thousands of happy clients later, we continue to take pride in our work and our place in the community of Metro Detroit. I am especially proud of our in-kind donations to local non-profits. Our customers are wonderful people, and getting to know them — and staying in touch with many of them year after year — has made this journey extraordinarily satisfying.

As a history nerd, my favorite part of the job is getting to work with historic homes and buildings. Caring for myriad types of historic windows — from 19th century wooden storm windows to "space age" MCM aluminum, to Frank Lloyd Wright seamless corner picture windows — is a privilege and a responsibility that we take very seriously. We are proud members of the Window Preservation Alliance, an organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of preserving old windows. As a historic window nerd, it's an extraordinary pleasure to convene with others who share this passion (can you imagine how electric the air is in a room full of historic window professionals who typically work in solitude and obscurity?!). I consider myself an expert in historic window systems — though I absolutely learn new things constantly — and I am happy to share my knowledge and perspective with anyone interested.

Outside of my business, I am a proud father of two. I enjoy kayaking in the Detroit River, particularly around Belle Isle, do traditional hand tool woodworking, and am a long time advocate for healthy, local food systems. I love non-fiction audio content, particularly anything history related.

Kind Regards, Carl Scott
